Dutch Airline KLM is introducing a new concept when it comes to seating on aeroplanes – social seating. Planned to launch in the early part of this year, social seating is an attempt to jazz our travel experiences by using social media data.

By using social networks such as LinkedIn and Facebook, KLM is giving passengers to choice to hand pick their seating buddy based on their age, likes and interests in an attempt to make the flight more enjoyable.

For those worried about safety and security, KLM is making this new service optional to passengers and will require prior consent from all passengers wanting to participate in social seating
