Google has recently announced they will begin notifying webmasters if and when they make a cross-domain URL decision involving your site. What this actually means is that when Google comes across similar or duplicate content on a domain, it chooses which of the domains to index that carries this duplicate. When such a decision is made, it may your version of the content that does not get indexed, in favour of another domain’s page.

While there can be multiple reasons for having duplicate content on your site – some of which are ok, but some of which are not – it’s never good to have Google deciding to not index a page on your domain. For this reason, Google has decided to notify webmasters every time this happens to one of your domains.

Currently Google only sends the notification to you via their Webmaster Tools, so make sure that you have claimed your website in Webmaster Tools and have set it up to send you an email with any notification that is raised.
